Announcement about IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano

22 July 2019
Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has passed away.

We join the condolences from all over the world for the loss of the illustrious Japanese diplomat who made the use of atomic energy for peace and development the mission of his life.

Sogin remembers him for the fruitful collaboration that has contributed to consolidating relations with the Agency and that has led, in recent years, to the realization of two independent reviews on our activities.

We are proud to have met Amano on September 19, 2017 in Vienna on the occasion of the delivery of the bust of the physicist Enrico Fermi, donated by the Italian Government for the 60 years of the Agency, in the presence of Ambassador Accili.
